Following a brilliant weekend of matches, including local bragging rights, derby-day victories, nail-bitingly close games, and a fantastic Mini’s Festival with over 800 attendees, Bury Rugby supporters can look forward to another action-packed weekend.
In what appears to be a relatively quiet weekend at The Haberden due to many away fixtures, we still have a large selection of teams to keep tabs on. This includes two fantastic rugby festivals in the local area: a Minis festival at Woodbridge RFC and a Colts festival at Stowmarket.
Our boys' U13s, U15s, and U16s all have exciting away fixtures against local rivals Colchester in their respective age grades. Meanwhile, the U14 girls welcome Ipswich Athenas to The Haberden on Sunday.
The Colts have named a large squad and have begun preparations for their big festival at Stowmarket RFC this Sunday.
The Men’s 1st XV look to continue their euphoric momentum after securing local bragging rights against Colchester RFC in what was a brilliant day at The Haberden. This week, they face struggling Sevenoaks as the Wolfpack aim to climb the National League 2 East table.
Jacob Ford has made five changes, with prop Calvin Mitchell coming into the front row, while most of the pack remains unchanged. However, there has been a reshuffle in the backline, with Elliot McPhun and Alex Earnshaw starting, alongside the return of club stalwarts Ben Penfold and Charlie Reed, completing the remaining changes to the squad.
The Women’s 1st XV have a rest weekend to recover and prepare to bounce back from last week's narrow one-point defeat.
The Men’s 2nd XV travel to Southwold to face their 1st XV after a rest weekend last week. The Wolfhounds are still chasing their elusive first victory of the season following a tough start.
The Men’s 3rd XV will be eager to avenge last week’s heavy defeat against Shelford as they host the only senior game at The Haberden, welcoming Cottenham Renegades. The Wolves squad sees another complete shake-up, with over 15 changes.
The Men’s 4th XV travel to Harwich to face Harwich & Dovercourt II XV. In an exciting fixture for the Rovers, a team full of experience and club stalwarts will aim to set the tone. It’s great to see the 4s back in action after multiple postponements and cancellations.
In the Minis section, the U7s, U8s, U10s (two teams), U11s, and U12s will all be competing in a large age-grade rugby festival at Woodbridge RFC on Sunday. We wish all those participating the best of luck!
Another full weekend of rugby and exciting fixtures awaits!
As usual, the full squads for the weekend can be found on the club's social media channels from midday.
